== Theory == This emacs mode began life after reading about a dyslexia therapy which treats a focus of attention problem. Apparently tests show that one, of many, symptoms of dyslexia shows a difference in how they attend to items that appear in their visual field. In particular nondyslexics allocate more attention to the center of their field of vision while dyslexics spread their attention more broadly accross the field. The therapy works by training the subject (the human mind is quite plastic) to attend more to the words he is reading and less to the surround. In the therapy as describe this is done by reading text thru a card that has a hole cut in it showing only a small fragment of the text. The reader then slide this card along as they read. The researchers report that this is quite effective. == Usage == So, if you load this module and invoke the speed-reader, usually via M-x sr, you will enter a mode that simulates this card. The card will slide along at a constant rate. You can control that rate with a few key strokes: S - slower D - pause, or Go F - faster all other regular characters exit the mode. The mode will exit of it's own accord when it hits the end of the buffer. The reading window begins at the point. There are a number of speed reading techniques that are analagous to this, for streaming the text out thru a windw a single word or phrase at a time. In that situation you can make the text uch larger if you like. This mode doesn't yet support that :(. == Development == This package was last seen to resides at http://code.google.com/... and you can subscribe to a mailing list! ... == Pointers == Summary of the dyslexia symptom, and therapy for that symptom. http://cbcl.mit.edu/projects/cbcl/people/geiger/memo_complete.pdf
